Korean / Japanese Interpreters (Several positions)

Responsibilities (will include but not be limited to)

  • Act as interpreter for Korean or Japanese guests during interviews
  • Assist in translating written interviews with French or English speaking journalists
  • Act as interpreter for interviews on festival talkshow (may be on camera, may be live)
  • Assist in translating pre-recorded interviews for festival talkshow and create subtitles
  • Accompany to guests during their time off festival grounds (dinners, activities etc)
  • Act as interpreter to facilitate interactions between guests and programmers or other staff
  • May be required to attend events (screenings, red carpets, interviews, etc)

Minimum Requirements

  • Impeccable spoken Japanese AND English (French a strong asset) is required
  • OR
  • Impeccable spoken Korean AND English (French a strong asset) is required
  • Ability to read Japanese AND/OR Korean AND English is an extremely strong asset
  • Written Japanese AND/OR Korean AND English is an extremely strong asset
  • Ability to adapt to a demanding work schedule (evenings, late nights, early mornings or week-ends) is a must
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely
  • Ability to engage easily with strangers and maintain a respectful and professional attitude
  • Interest and knowledge of film, especially genre and Japanese or Korean cinema considered an asset
